　　SL的知识点由Core和Options组成，HL的知识点由Core，AHL(Additional High Level)和Options组成，SL一般需要150课时，而HL需要240课时的学习(SL generally needs 150 class hours, while HL needs 240 class hours)。

　　考核分数由外部评价和内部评价组成(It consists of external evaluation and internal evaluation)，其中外部评价，也就是大考的分数占到80%，内部评价占20%，以下分别是各个课程的学习内容(The following are the learning contents of each course)。

　　知识点会涉及到一些大学普通化学的内容：如原子结构的质谱，分子间作用力，热力学、动力学计算等，IB化学重视理解概念的本质，如粒子，需要结合物理的背景知识，所以要求学生有跨学科的理解力和反思(B chemistry attaches importance to understanding the essence of concepts, such as particles, which needs to be combined with the background knowledge of physics, so students are required to have interdisciplinary understanding and reflection)。

　　2、AHL部分：

　　AHL是HL多于SL的部分，会在Core的基础上更加深入学习(Will learn more deeply on the basis of core)，如在化学键(bonding)的部分, HL的学生还需要学习轨道杂化理论(Hybridization)等进阶的知识点。

　　3、Options部分：

　　提供A-D四个不同主题选择，包括材料学、生物化学、能量化学、药物化学，不管是SL和HL都需要从中选择一个主题进行学习(Including materials science, biochemistry, energy chemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry, both SL and HL need to choose a subject to study)，不同的是HL需要学习得更加深入，SL学习15个课时，而HL需要25个课时。

　　除了理论学习，IB化学课程的实验与探究也是课程重要的组成部分，占40课时。在实践部分，学生需要完成大量实验并完成实验报告(In the practice part, students need to complete a large number of experiments and complete the experimental report)，学生并非做做课本上列出的简单的重复性质的实验就行了，而是必须根据教师给定的主题自行设计实验方案并实施。

　　学生需要在实验室运用所学的知识进行实验，这要求学生将理论应用实践，实验数据的分析和对结果评价也要求独立思考的能力(This requires students to apply theory to practice, the analysis of experimental data and the evaluation of results, as well as the ability of independent thinking.)，课程的IA(Internally assessed)要求独立思考、确立研究的对象、方案，并完成研究，最后提交报告。
