Alevel考CCC就能进华威大学?贫困生还发大额奖学金!华威大学计划降低入学要求，来增加学生群体的多样性(To increase the diversity of student groups)，申请要求可能会降至CCC!贫困生每年还可申请上万助学金!
据The Guardian报道，华威大学计划增加学生群体的多样性，将为扩招贫困学生而采用降低入学要求(Warwick University plans to increase the diversity of student groups and reduce admission requirements for expanding the enrollment of poor students)、财政支持以及对当地学校的资助等一系列措施。
华威大学表示，学校准备每年在名为Warwick Scholars的项目上投入1000万英镑，以改善贫困地区或弱势群体中的优秀学生所面临的入学现状(To improve the enrollment status of excellent students in poor areas or vulnerable groups)。
近日，英国高等教育监管机构(OfS)呼吁，英国各大学应利用「情境录取(context admissions)」来改善入学条件，即根据学生的背景和家庭环境来调整入学要求(That is to adjust the admission requirements according to the students‘ background and family environment)，不能只看分数!
OfS要求英国大学在招生时，应当多关注学生的社会经济和教育背景，不能只单看成绩(We should pay more attention to students socio-economic and educational background, not just their grades)，呼吁大学为弱势群体中的优秀学生提供更多机会。
华威大学计划为贫困生降低入学要求，正是对OfS号召的回应。
华威大学具体采取了哪些行动?
华威大学校长Stuart Croft表示，根据华威过去6年的招生情况，学校计划降低A-level入学要求来增加学生群体的多样性(The school plans to reduce the A-level admission requirements to increase the diversity of student groups)，至多降低4个等级。
Croft还说：“有很多优秀学生因为条件较差，根本无法进入像华威这样的学校(Many excellent students can‘t enter schools like Warwick because of their poor conditions)。目前我们正在考虑采取一些有效措施，为弱势学生在申请上提供更多的帮助。”
据THE报道，华威大学的大部分专业要求学生成绩为A*AA-ABB。
降低A-level分数以扩招贫困生(Reduce the A-level score to expand the enrollment of poor students)，意味着：被选中的学生将有权以BBB的成绩注册A*AA课程;成绩为CCC的学生将有资格参加ABB课程!
参与计划的学生还将获得50%的学费折扣(Students participating in the program will also receive a 50% tuition discount)，以及每年至多￡2000的贫困助学金。此外，他们亦可申请其他资助，使助学金总额增至每年￡5,000。
华威这一计划是否有失公平?
当然，在华威公布该计划后，也有人认为这样对其他学生是不公平的，毕竟每个学生在学习上付出的努力是同等的(Some people also think that this is unfair to other students. After all, every student pays the same effort in learning)，如果是通过降低入学要求来扩招弱势学生，这是否对于其他学生的努力有些不尊重呢?
此前，OfS曾建议牛剑在招收贫困学生时，根据学生背景情况适当降低入学要求(Reduce the admission requirements appropriately according to the students‘ background)，牛剑就曾表示此举「对其他学生不公平」。
牛津大学在帮助贫困生上，选择减免50%的学费，并提供每年￡2000的奖学金来支持经济困难的优秀学生。
剑桥大学则发起5亿英镑的筹款活动，筹集的资金用在「过渡计划」上，帮助那些达不到高入学要求的优秀弱势学生提高学习成绩(The funds raised are used in the “transition plan“ to help outstanding and vulnerable students who fail to meet the high admission requirements improve their academic performance)，计划包括为期三周的密集型衔接课程，以及正式课程前一年的过渡期。
小渊认为不论是通过怎样的方式，最终的目标都是一致的，重点是为了帮助更多的贫困生能受到更好的教育(In any way, the ultimate goal is the same. The focus is to help more poor students get a better education)。也许减免学费或者提供学术上的帮助，更能解决这些贫困生所面临的根本问题。
贫困生无法接受顶尖大学的教育，根本问题就出在经济困难和教育环境不佳上(Poor students cannot receive education from top universities. The fundamental problem lies in economic difficulties and poor educational environment)，也许牛剑所采取的措施是更加有效的，但从另一个角度来看，现在只是资助贫困生的探索阶段，相信随着时间的推移，英国大学会找出更多帮助贫困生的有效措施。
